I’ve always been a petrolhead competing on my first 12 Car Rally in 1970 using a 850 Mini. Over the following years I progressed from a Hillman Avenger to a Talbot Sunbeam and then an Escort. Successes included winning my class in the 1979 BTRDA national championship and the 1984 Autosport national championship.

History was interrupted in 1985 when I suffered a massive accident on the Epynt military ranges but I was back again 18 months later in a Sierra!
More recently I have taken up sprinting and hillclimbing in a Peugeot 205 GTi and, despite my advancing years, won my class in the 2024 ACSMC hillclimb championship.

Over the years, I’ve enjoyed marshalling on a mixture of a great many events – anything from Solos to the RAC Rally. Believe me, they’re all great fun with strong camaraderie from fellow nutters and appreciation from the lunatics behind the wheel! I do recommend volunteering ‘cos you’ll get to have even more fun.
Before retiring I worked as an estate agent but now my pension pays for my motorsport obsession!
